Our First Stop

Since the Summer Reading theme is One World Many Stories, our first stop was the Greensboro Historical Museum. The museum was hosting a wonderful exhibit detailing the life of the Jewish people in North Carolina. This exhibit covered every aspect of Jewish culture; from the spiritual to the physical. There were displays of the outlay of a typical Jewish synagogue, examples of the Torah, Jewish prayer shawls, and much information about well-known Jewish residents of our great state as well as the city of Greensboro. This tour was conducted by a docent who was of the Jewish race. She could tell us first hand many details of the Jewish beliefs, ways of life, and what certain rituals and symbols represented. The tour was enjoyed by all. We walked away knowing much more than we knew when we walked in.
