All in a Day's Work

I had a strange encounter at a patron's house yesterday. While we were talking, we noticed one of her dogs running with something white in it's mouth. Upon closer inspection we noticed it was a baby squirrel (or a teen-age squirrel) we couldn't really tell it's age. The white we had spotted was the belly of the squirrel.
The squirrel has been taken to the squirrel hospital where he will receive treatment for a puncture wound and a broken toe. When he is better he will be released back into the wild.
My patron was relieved to know the squirrel will be okay. Such a simple act to save a creature that most people don't think twice about, but the smile and thanks I received was well worth the effort.
I sure am glad I didn't let The Cat ride with me yesterday!!!
